Xiangxi’s efforts to cultivate young streamers

Aug Fri 2024
Shi Kang, secretary of the village Youth League branch, started a livestreaming session in Shibadong Village, Shuanglong Town, Huayuan County at 20:00 of August 25 together with old people of the village.

The livestreaming lasts for two hours each time, and this simple way of selling goods has gained likes from netizens. Many agricultural products are sold out soon. Live streaming shows are also held every day.

Shi Kang, 28 years old, is one of the first group of college students in the village to return home and start business. He has strived to explore e-commerce to help agricultural products of Shibadong Village to be sold across the country.

In the past five years, Xiangxi Prefecture has organized more than 500 special training sessions, hired e-commerce experts, and offered a loan of over 500 million yuan, providing “hardcore support” or young e-commerce talents’ innovation and entrepreneurship.

Jishou City has established a youth e-commerce streamer incubation base to help them master the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of livestreaming sales. Currently, it has attracted more than 3,000 persons from surrounding areas and trained nearly 200 local Internet-famous streamers.

Guzhang County has cultivated a large number of well-known self-media bloggers such as “Shanbai”, “Peng Banke”, and “Xiangxi Dongbao”. In 2023, the e-commerce transaction volume in Guzhang County reached 1.926 billion yuan.

Longshan County launches a livestreaming e-commerce talent growth training camp every year. Returning college students, young e-commerce entrepreneurs, and young volunteers are organized to conduct on-site training in various industrial bases, which not only cultivates a large number of e-commerce talents with practical experience, but also helps agricultural products to go out.
